Let's Go Camping

I bought a car yesterday, August 7th, 2014.  My co-teacher took me to Gwangju and to a place he had purchased cars before.  They had a *lot of cars.  Anyway, I had been looking online at their selection and had my eye on a Hyundai EF Sonata.  I probably should have stayed with it, but I liked the Kia Optimus that was just across from it for the same price.  The trunk is just about like my old LHS.  Huge.  I could rent it out.  It will really come in handy for moving in a couple weeks.

So during the day, the first few days of camp were somewhat grueling.  I have a hunch it's because my co-teacher and I had gone over a bunch of things to buy for the camp.  It was mainly food, as the students really loved the winter camp and all the things I cooked, so if it keeps them happy and learning a little bit, it's all the better.

Before I left on vacation, we'd gone through a list and I showed him a website where he could find the stuff.  He didn't order anything, so when I showed up the first day to do camp, I had no supplies.  It made for a difficult couple days as I had to re-adjust plans and hope it worked.  By Wednesday, the kids were behaving better, and on Thursday, they were great - maybe because we topped it off by making ice cream...and it was painfully simple.

After class on Thursday, we went downstairs and were waiting for the school's credit card to arrive so we could go to Gwangju and buy stuff.  Tortillas, chips, ground pork (beef is ridiculously expensive), mustard, tons of eggs (some white to color easter eggs), and a whole lot of other stuff.

It was taking a long time, and I nearly fell asleep in a chair.  I got up, walked around out in the hall, and came back in to the Gyo Mu Shil (the main teacher's room).  Suddenly, a male teacher behind me and to my right started yelling my name, "Oh, Jeppuh!" over and over, and then he started sweeping my back with a bunch of paper, so I knew there was something on me.  I initially figured it was a giant spider, but at that point, I didn't give a shit as long as it got off me.  As I did the conga (solo) through the office with him hitting me, I reached the other end and turned around to see that he'd knocked the beastie off my back and onto the big coffee table.  It was a centipede about 5 inches long.  Not pretty.

They through a bowl over it (I wonder if it's still there?) and repeatedly chanted the Korean "WA", which is kind of a wow, whoa, oh, mixture.  While they did that, I had mixed emotions.  Part was fear, but the event was over, so I wasn't really afraid, but then I just wanted to freak out a little bit.  While I find spiders and crawly things a little interesting, I really don't want them near me and certainly not on me.

Ah well, life continues to get "interestinger".
