Travel

I love to travel and see new things, especially in odd far away place - it's part of why I love Korea (or what led me to fall in love with it).  But the actual traveling part can be really difficult.  It took me about 50 hours to get from the U.S. to my island.

From the time I woke up, to the time I got to my island, it was about 50 hours.  I did get to stay in Mokpo for a night, and so I got a *little rest, but not much.  The bed was excruciatingly hard and I was still somewhat on USA time.  The double transition to and from the time zones, all within 2 weeks was difficult.

I try to sleep on the plane, and I get some rest, but the seats are less than comfortable, people bump into you, you're kind of squished in no matter where you are, and the waitresses in the sky come by at odd times to give water, food, or whatever.

By the time I landed in Incheon and got out, the cab driver at Seoul Station said it was going to rain the next day.  He hadn't told my why, but I called my co-teacher on a whim, and he said there was a typhoon almost upon us.  By the time I got to Mokpo, it was.

The next day, I got up and checked out by 11.  I would have gone earlier, but was unsure where to go since I still had all my luggage.  So I left at 11, checked into the hotel next door (same prices, a little nicer), and then at 2:30 or so, I received a call that the ferry would be running by 3.  That meant I got a new room for nothing, but I had to go somewhere in the interim.  Trying to get them to refund me was futile and I was in a hurry.  40 bucks down the drain.  It was more expensive from the get-go, because I checked in early.  Oh well.

So, now I have a few weeks before I move yet again, and while uprooting sucks, I think I seriously need this change.
