Norm

I went golfing at the Muan Country Club this last weekend.  I didn't golf so great, though I did hit some shots (many, actually), that impressed me.  I hit the ball incredibly straight for not having golfed in a long time.

I didn't have much distance, though I think that is also partly due to the clubs I borrowed (along with not having played in a while.)  I was deadly accurate down the left side with both the 3 and 5 woods, whether it was off the tee box or in the fairways.

They had some odd placements for O.B. on some holes, perhaps just due to the fact that the entire golf complex has 54 holes, so they don't want people mixing and matching too much.  I lost a few strokes on a few holes due to my ball being easily playable, but being 5 yards outside a white stake.  Oh well.

I'm also amazed at how sore I was after playing.  That night and the next day, I felt a little like I'd been worked over.  Need to begin moving around a little more, I guess.  When when it comes to traditions and norms after a golf game, America and Korea couldn't be more different, I think.

Thinking back, after golfing, friends and I back home would have stopped somewhere for a burger, whether it was at the clubhouse or someplace on the way home, depending upon where we golfed.  We'd have a beer or two and relax.

Here, we went to a small haemul jib, and had san nakji (raw small octopus cut up and still squirming on a plate sprinkled with sesame oil and sesame seeds), a bottle of beer split 4 ways with some 7up mixed in, and a big thing of mae eun tang, a huge soup with fish (and 2 fish heads, we must be important!!).  The soup is actually quite delicious, (with woo reok fish), but the bones can often make the meat of the deal too much work.

I went in hungry, and came out full, so something was done right...even if it wasn't the norm.
