I Serve Big Jjampong (and I cannot lie)

I splurged tonight and went to Dae Han Ban Jahm, a Chinese restaurant very near my apartment and school.  I probably shouldn't have, but didn't want to make anything (nothing to make at present), and school food (the cafeteria does dinner but I am never fully sure what time) just didn't sound right.  Beyond all that, I have had an upset stomach since Sunday - something is rotten in Denmark, as my mother would say.

I called my order in and arrived 5 minutes later.  It was nice because the food was at my table quickly.  Odd though, because normally it can seem to take 15-20 minutes for the guy to cook my food.  I got there, and they have a wood stove set up in the middle of the floor, right next to the tables.  I guess they're trying to save some money.  I wonder how that does for them.

Anyway, once I walked in I saw one of my students from Imja Nam Cho in a back room, and soon, like little mice scurrying everywhere, about 8 of them came out shouting my name.  Cute kids, all of them a boat load of fun and very smart.  Their mothers (three of them, watching other kids too, maybe?) were at the table nearest the wood stove.  They quieted the kids, my food came, and not long after, they all packed up and left me alone in the restaurant with the owner / cook.

The Nelson Mandela services and newscast were on the TV - Korean version.  Once everyone had left, the cook / owner came out, sat down in front of the big screen, and turned up the volume a bit.  I kept eating, one ear and one eye on the happenings around the globe via camera.

Out of the blue I heard, "Aaaaaaiiigo!" in a fairly high pitch.  I looked at the screen in time to see an African woman in a black and white outfit / dress walk past the camera.  She had what might be described as a "massive amount of junk in the trunk", to which my chef either found sheer joy, wonderment, or complete shock, I couldn't tell which.  As she continued walking past and then away, the camera couldn't help but find focus on her trunk, and the cook just kept mumbling in Korean until the scene switched.

I can only wonder if he was saying, "I like big butts and I cannot lie."

It all kind looked like this...

  1. Hahaha! Why don't you ask? I wish I were there! I would've asked him, "What do you think about this? Do you like it or loathe it?"
