Real
I feel like I was trained for something completely different than this reality. Nothing seems to work correctly. It doesn't help that I am in this location, but that's ultimately not the root of it all. I seems like I can't use much of the things I learned in the last few classes I took in my own classrooms due to a multitude of reasons. Mostly, it's time. I don't get many hours face time where I can implement anything of any merit.
High school classes got basically cancelled once again, due to them having final exams this Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Nobody told me until I got there. When I arrived and tried to turn on the computer, the students tried to tell me that the electricity was out due to water leaking...somewhere. So I was a bit flustered, wondering what I was going to to with all my work on my usb. I did have sheets for them to review for their coming speaking exam with me, but it would have been easier going over it as I had planned, handing it out and looking at a copy on the monitor / power point.
Alas, I was relieved of my duty for the day by the main teacher. And that's fine, but with so many stops, starts, shifts, cancellations...I just don't feel I get anything done.
And then with the elementary classes, I double up some classes on Thursdays, and their is a contingent of kids that simply lose interest and become rowdy as we plunge on into the second hour. I don't know. Once again, I feel completely ineffective, and unfortunately, I have no community to help me figure things out.
I think it was simply a poor decision on my part...from the very beginning.
